 DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The department of computer Applications and Information Technology was established in the year 1998 and 2010 respectively under the Self Financing Vocational course and has been functioning successfully with annual intake of 90 students in BCA (Hons.), 90 seats in B. Sc. (IT) and 40 seats in M. Sc. (IT) programme from the session 1998-99, 2010-11 and 2018-19 respectively. The department strives towards excellence in the field of Computer Applications. The Department regularly organize different sorts of departmental seminars, software and web application development, programs development competitions, computer training program for non-teaching staff, etc. for the benefit of faculties and students, staff and other stakeholders in the area of computer applications and Information Technology. The Department is equipped with internet facilities and supported by well qualified and experienced faculty members with world class computer laboratories. It provides individual attention and quality education to the students from rural, sub – urban and urban areas of Magadh Division and adjacent districts of Jharkhand state. Effective Placement training is given to the students of these three UG and PG level courses.

Institutional and Industrial visits are organized to various institutions and industries for the students to gather the knowledge about the real working environment. The students are endowed with abundant prospect not only in academic but also in co-curricular activities. The Department aims at providing students to expertise in understanding the technology, besides its applicability. With its fine infrastructure and ability to maintain high academic standards, the department has the unique honour of being acclaimed as one of the outstanding and prestigious department in our institution.

With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation, the department has always produced quality professionals, holding important positions in Information Technology industries across India. In addition to the core courses the programme also incorporates current and emerging technologies relevant to the field of computer application. To tackle theoretical and real life problems, the syllabus has been designed by balancing various core and specialized programming and RDBMS subjects. The syllabus also includes several practical papers and challenging projects. The Department always suggests affiliating University updating its syllabi frequently to attract young talents from all over the State. The academic activities of the department, during the last twenty years, were centered on teaching  programmes in computer science with a view to train under graduate and PG students who can contribute significantly to the requirements of professional organizations in the ever changing field of Information Technology. The educational objective of the BCA (Hons.), B. Sc. (IT) and M. Sc. (IT) programme is to enable the students to have a holistic and all round grooming, to be a thorough professional in the field of Computer Application. The students are trained to have a sound foundation in the fundamentals of computer technology, a high level of practical skill in the use of that technology and at the same time, be sensitive to the issues prevailing in the society. Several alumni of the department were well placed in good positions of the various public sector and major IT companies in India.
